Blink-182 “feels like home,” says Matt Skiba

After Blink-182 kicked out guitarist Tom DeLonge, we heard Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker share their thoughts on the situation many times. But now, we get to hear from DeLonge’s (temporary?) replacement, Matt Skiba, who is also frontman for the band Alkaline Trio.

Skiba joined Hoppus on the latest episode of the Hi My Name Is Mark Podcast, where the two spoke in-depth about Skiba playing with Blink. “I couldn’t be more excited,” Skiba said. “As you know, we’ve been rehearsing a lot, and it just gets better and better and more and more fun.”

Skiba continued, “Tom and I have a very different guitar playing style. I had to kind of relearn guitar in a sense—but it was a lot of fun. I’ve been a fan of Blink for a long time. I’ve known you Mark for 15 years or something, and I was a fan of the band before we knew each other. I knew a lot of the songs already just lyrically, and, of course, it’s a totally different thing when you’re playing the songs. But it was a blast.”

He finally added, “It really feels like a band—it feels like home. It’s great.”
