Blink-182 hoping to release new album in summer 2015

It looks like Blink-182 are making good on Mark Hoppus’ earlier announcement that the band will begin recording their new album this year. In the next few weeks, Blink will start their first big writing session and create the first tracks. In an interview with music blog Wondering Sound, Tom DeLonge said he was hoping they will “get this thing out” by the summer of 2015.

Back in August, Hoppus had had said, “We are basically at the very beginning of the process. We were going to start recording at the beginning of this year, but there were some things happening in some of our personal lives that prevented us from getting in the studio, so now we are getting in the studio at the end of this year instead. We have the beginning of song ideas at this point, and we are really just excited to get into the studio and have an album out sooner rather than later.”

Judging by what DeLonge recently told Wondering Sound, it looks like the band are indeed on track to enter the studio by the end of the year:

Also heard that there’s a new Blink-182 album in the works. What’s the timeline for that looking like?
I am hoping that we can get this thing out by summer, but we will see.

Have you started recording yet?
We actually have our very first big writing session coming here in the next few weeks where we’ll get together and lay down our first tracks.

The new Blink album will be the band’s first full-length since 2011’s Neighborhoods. If you missed it, Tom DeLonge recently saw a UFO.
