We’re officially in full swing for awards season. The 76th Golden Globes kicked it all off as the first major show of the year. Bohemian Rhapsody was only up for two awards, but the Queen biopic took both home.

The awards were held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh co-hosted the show, which aired live on NBC Jan. 6.

After a three-hour show, Richard Gere and Julianne Moore finally presented “Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama.”

Rami Malek won for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury, landing Bohemian Rhapsody its first win of the night. He beat out Bradley Cooper (A Star Is Born), Willem Dafoe (At Eternity’s Gate), Lucas Hedges (Boy Erased) and John David Washington (BlacKkKlansman).

Naturally, he thanked Mercury as well as fellow Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor.

Next, Nicole Kidman took to the stage to present the final award of the night, “Best Motion Picture – Drama.”

Bohemian Rhapsody won, in turn sealing both nominations. It beat Black PantherBlacKkKlansmanIf Beale Streat Could Talk and A Star Is Born.

May and Taylor joined the cast and crew onstage where producer Graham King accepted the award.

Bohemian Rhapsody reached major numbers when it debuted in theaters back in November, and the film has just hit another milestone last month.

Deadline reported the film officially grossed over $600 million worldwide making it the highest grossing music biopic of all time.

As Deadline notes, the film beat out previous music biopic record holder, Straight Outta Compton. Of course, the news of the film’s success doesn’t come as too much of a surprise.

The Queen biopic, which chronicles the legendary rock band from 1970 to their performance at Live Aid in 1985, reached massive numbers when it made its big screen debut. As previously reported, the film broke records when it became the second highest grossing music biopic in history upon its successful opening weekend.
