Brand New land first No. 1 album with ‘Science Fiction’
It's been confirmed: Billboard announced that Brand New’s Science Fiction landed No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, the band's first No. 1 album ever.
Not only is it the band’s first No. 1 album—but it's the first independently distributed album to hit No. 1 this year, too.

Billboard has reported that Science Fiction has earned 58,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Aug. 24, and of that, 55,000 were traditional album sales.
The band’s previous album, Daisy, debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard charts, and with its No. 1, it's also the third rock album to lead the Billboard rock chart in 2017—joining Arcade Fire’s Everything Now and Linkin Park’s One More Light.
Brand New’s new album is their first in eight years, and in no time, fans were sharing photos of the album art, theories about the future of Brand New, and are now explaining some of the lyrics and possible callbacks in the album.
