Brendon Urie ponders Panic! At The Disco’s lingering “emo” label
Panic! At The Disco frontman Brendon Urie just discussed the band’s emo past and their unusual pre-show ritual, inspired by the Foo Fighters and Dave Grohl.
Urie appeared on the Your Mom’s House Podcast to discuss a variety of things such as his collab with Taylor Swift and what life is like on the road.

One of the things he discussed was his band being known as “emo” and what that means now.
“People call us (emo) but I don’t really care. …. To me, it was synonymous with guys with the hair and the face, different colors and they’d wear wild makeup. We used to wear makeup but it wasn’t like that on stage,” he said.
Also, he asked during the podcast who he looked up to and answered Grohl. He then shared the story about the time he met him.
“We played a festival one time and I knew Foo Fighters were headling” him “I walked back up to the dressing room and there’s a guy with long hair sitting in my chair in our dressing room. And I was like ‘Oh shit’ … and I saw it was Dave Grohl. … I didn’t know what to say so I was like ‘Do you want a beer or something?’”
Urie said Grohl said he was finishing up his setlist since his band was “raging” in their dressing room, which Urie was totally fine with. Then, Grohl invited P!ATD on stage to do a double shot before the show started when he met him.
“The reason that we do a double shot before our show is because of Foo Fighters,” Urie said. “Because they have a cart roll out with drinks, and they all make a double shot and they throw it back and then they go on stage.”

Panic! At The Disco frontman Brendon Urie recently said new music is coming soon, but they’re giving fans some incredible art first.
An incredibly intricate mural dedicated to “Hey Look Ma, I Made It” was created in London, England for fans to take photos with.
The band posted a video of the mural’s creation to Instagram encouraging fans to tag their photos with #HeyLookMural. You can watch the artists’ amazing spray painting job come together below.
Fans living in the UK can hit up the mural at the corner of Great Eastern Street & Fairchild Street in Shoreditch to see the artwork for themselves.
As stated previously, Urie gave an interview with Billboard revealing they are already working on new music.
“I thought I would take a little more time off, but I’m already starting music. Not with anything planned in mind, but I’m working on some ideas,” he says. “I can’t help myself. I don’t think it’ll be too long before another Panic! record.”
He also talked about opening the show with Taylor Swift with their collab “ME!”
“She’s incredible. We just had so much fun working on that song and her ideas for the videos and the performance, I take no credit,” he says. “I was just like, ‘I’ll show up. I’ll do whatever you ask.’”
