Urie made his Broadway announcement in early April that he'd be joining the cast of Kinky Boots as Charlie Price, and he's been sharing his excitement ever since.

“I’m very excited to announce that I’m joining the cast of Kinky Boots this summer on Broadway. That’s crazy to say because it’s been on my bucket list for the longest time, and it really is a dream come true,” Urie said in the original announcement.

“Plus you guys get to see me in those heels now, so that’s pretty cool. I really hope you guys make it out.”

Urie talked about how when he was first asked to be involved with Kinky Boots, he was truly willing to do anythign for the production “I was invited by the producers and they said we'd like you to see the play and I said absolutely, I'd love to. So after seeing it, we met afterwards and they asked 'Would you like to be a part of the Kinky Boots family?' and I said in any capacity, I'll get the waters, I'll polish the boots, I'll usher, whatever I can do, the energy was too amazing … It's wilder than I ever could have expected.”

Fans are excited to see Urie on Broadway, too. Watch them sing “This Is Gospel” and wish you were there to sing along!

Urie also talked about how growing up he was only allowed to watch musicals on Sundays, which is where his love and appreciation of the theater world began.”I didn't realize at the time how much of an appreciation I had until I got older. I never tried theater, in high school I did stage craft but it was a bullcrap class to do whatever, I was building the sets and stuff, it was more just in the back of my mind, I knew I wanted to pursue some type of theater and Panic! ended up being that, I took those ideas, put them in production and built them into a show. But doing this, it's such a different energy and such a task to put on.”

Playbill recently reported that Kinky Boots’ capacity has increased above 90 percent, while its gross potential has hovered around there as well as fans catch the lead singer’s Broadway debut. This is truly amazing considering this is the very first time the frotnman has been approached for a Broadway show.
