‘Captain Marvel’ Rotten Tomatoes rating finally goes above 60 percent
Captain Marvel is finally getting the reviews it deserves as its Rotten Tomatoes audience score has finally rose about 50 percent.
The slow rise despite widespread critical success comes after trolls bombed the movie before it even came out.

Previously, trolls have caused Captain Marvel to become the lowest scoring film in Marvel Cinematic Universe history.
They have taken to the website to express their distaste with the film following comments made by the film’s lead, Brie Larson.
In an interview with Marie Claire, Larson talked about wanting to be more inclusive during her press tour, seeking out nonwhite male journalists for interviews.
“About a year ago, I started paying attention to what my press days looked like and the critics reviewing movies, and noticed it appeared to be overwhelmingly white male,” Larson says. “So, I spoke to Dr. Stacy Smith at the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, who put together a study to confirm that. Moving forward, I decided to make sure my press days were more inclusive.”
These comments didn’t sit well with some audiences, causing them to take to Rotten Tomatoes’ audience review section to vent their frustration, in turn bringing down the “want to see” score to 59 percent.
“brie larson has already said this isn’t for me.i’ll spend my money elsewhere,” one user wrote. “as a white male i dont think Brie would want me watching this movie,” another user shares.
The negative audience reviews have lowered the film’s “want to see score” to a mere 47%. It became the lowest-rated Marvel film on the Rotten Tomatoes site.
However, Rotten Tomatoes has banned users from making reviews or comments about a film before it is released in theaters.
Since the move, now the film has a 57 percent on the Rotten Tomatoes audience score. More than 47,000 people have voted on the film. The movie also has an 80 percent fresh rating.
Captain Marvel is currently projected for the second-highest debut for a Marvel origin film. As of Friday evening, the film had already pulled in an astounding $88.3 million worldwide.
