'Captain Marvel'-featured ‘90s songs see major download increase

Captain Marvel is apparently making some songs popular again that were once big hits in the ‘90s.

All of the songs on the soundtrack combined jumped 464 percent in downloads from March 7 and March 10, according to a report by Nielsen Music. There are a total of 13 songs in the film.

The soundtrack includes songs from Nirvana, No Doubt, Hole and more.

We knew the flick would have a ton of ‘90s vibes given that it is set in the decade, but the soundtrack is truly a treat. You can check out the full track listing below.

Captain Marvel has made waves since it debuted in theaters by having the biggest-ever opening weekend for a female-fronted film. The movie made even more history with a $153 million box office debut weekend in North America and $455 million worldwide.

The box office success comes after Captain Marvel was bashed by trolls on Rotten Tomatoes before it even came out. However, the film’s rating is steadily rising from the online hate and getting a better rating. Critics have boasted rave reviews in regards to the film despite the online hate.

The film stars Brie Larson as the titular character in Marvel’s first ever female-led superhero film.

While it’s obvious this is the studio’s first female-led superhero film, women are also making waves behind the scenes. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are co-directing, and Boden is Marvel’s first female directors.

Also, the movie has an adorable tribute to Stan Lee that will bring viewers to tears.
