Nashville band Carverton honor late frontman by releasing album early

Nashville rock band Carverton dropped their new album, Chasing Sounds, today in honor of their late lead singer, who was involved in a fatal shooting earlier this month.

The band originally planned to release the album March 29, but they moved the date up in memory of frontman Kyle Yorlets.

“It was a dream for Kyle to have his art shared with the world, and we wanted to honor his legacy by giving everyone a chance to listen and own the record we have worked so hard on for all these months,” the band wrote in a Facebook post.

Before becoming available on streaming services, the band are making the record available for free, but there’s a choice to pay any amount. Fifty percent of all donations will go toward a scholarship and foundation in Yorlets’ name.

“We know that Kyle will be chasing sounds forever, and we hope that you will join him and us in that journey,” the band says.

Yorlets was shot outside his home Feb. 7 by five minors, ranging between age 12 and 16, in a robbery-homicide.

Police say Yorlets had already given up his wallet, but refused to part with his car keys before being shot. The children are facing homicide charges, with prosecutors looking to try the five as adults according to the Tennessean.

The band held a celebration of life Feb. 11 that was open to the public. Prior to the event, the band requested the help of fans in submitting photos of the frontman.

Carverton say they hope the album allows Yorlets’ legacy to live on through the hard work and passion they put into creating it.

Chasing Sounds is an album that has demanded all of our blood, sweat and tears. We know the only true satisfaction we could ever get from this is if you all love it as much as we loved making it,” the band says. “We’ve been eagerly waiting to release this, and despite the circumstances that we have been up against, we can’t wait for you all to hear what we and Kyle have been working on this past year.”

A GoFundMe, created to help Yorlets’ family with travel and funeral expenses is available here. You can download Chasing Sounds and donate here.

Last month, the band released a music video for “Wildside” featuring their late singer. The track is taken from Chasing Sounds, and you can view it below.
