Catch this Metallica 'Pokémon' video

It's not quite The Grey Album but it is one of those mashups with the right subject at the right time.

Dangermouse famously combined Jay-Z's The Black Album with The Beatles “white album” but this video takes the band whose own “black album” is the biggest selling record of the Soundscan era and pairs them with the game that's, um, “captured” everyone's attention.

In this video, pro-shot live footage of Metallica (whose self-titled 1991 album has sold over 16.3 million copies in the U.S.) syncs up wonderfully with the Pokémon theme song. The new viral sensatation has racked up close to 300,000 views less than two full days after it was posted.

It's still not as awesome as the time somebody made it look like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were playing a Throwdown song (since viewed over 1 million times), but it's pretty creative nevertheless.
