News of the forthcoming film originally surfaced back in February, with Peter Berg set to direct. Cornell’s widow Vicky and Brad Pitt are set to produce the movie.

According to IMDb, the documentary is titled Like A Stone and is currently slated for a 2021 release.

While archived footage will be used, the movie will also see dramatizations with actors portraying Cornell, Vicky and more.

IMDb lists actress Drena De Niro for the role of Vicky, while actor Lauchlin MacDonald will take on the role of Chris Cornell.

MacDonald’s work includes Tail Lights Fade, The Man in the High Castle and Lucy.

He is also slated to play Tommy Lee in the 2024 film Mötley Crüe: Life of a Röck Star.

 More on Chris Cornell

While it’s unclear if or when we’ll see Cornell‘s final Soundgarden recordings, the late musician’s daughter is delivering something new from him.

His teen daughter, Toni Cornell, released “Far Away Places” today under her name with production credits from her father.

The new track is a ballad Cornell and his daughter produced together when she was just 12 years old.

The song is one of the final things Cornell recorded before his tragic death in May 2017. The recording was made by the father-daughter duo in February 2017, just months prior to his death.

Proceeds from the single’s sales will be donated towards The New York Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
