We’ll have to wait a bit longer to hear Christofer Drew’s new solo album

At the end of April, Christofer Drew announced his return to music. On social media, the former Never Shout Never vocalist revealed that he would be releasing a solo acoustic album called Unborn Spark on May 13. Now, it appears that some of these plans have changed.

Today, Drew shared that Unborn Spark‘s release has been delayed.

It has been a long journey for Drew over the past couple of years. In 2017, Never Shout Never released the Violett Soul EP. Following this, NSN teased a new track from their forthcoming Emerald Sun album in the summer of 2018. However, the full LP never made its way onto streaming services. Shortly after this, Drew announced that the band was finished and he had plans to possibly venture into the world of EDM music.

Fast forward two years later and Drew is now going back to his acoustic roots for Unborn Spark. The acoustic album will feature 7 brand new original songs. Drew originally planned for the album to be released on May 13 as it is his son Lion’s first birthday. However, Drew shared on social media that plans for the acoustic release have changed.

Taking to Twitter, the songwriter announced that the album’s release has been pushed back as it is still in the mixing stage. However, the new release date will be announced soon along with Unborn Spark‘s cover art.

“Hey friends, Unborn Spark release is getting pushed back,” Drew says. “Tracks are still in mixing. I’ll be announcing the new album release date with the cover art soon! Much love, CD.”

In the album announcement video last month, Drew gave insight into what he has been working on over the past few years.

“I’ve been writing so many songs,” he says. “I have well over 100 songs written, I’ve just been kind of waiting to find the right time to release stuff [and] find the right way to do it.”

For Unborn Spark, the “Trouble” singer expressed that he has gone back to “his roots” and that these songs have been a long work in progress.

“I’ve been working on these songs which are all originals [and] very heartfelt,” he says. “They’ve been in incubation for a long time. I feel like they have come a long way lyrically and I’m really excited to share it with you guys.”

Drew also teased that Unborn Spark is just the beginning of his solo career. While he didn’t go into too much detail, Drew did confirm that this acoustic album is just one of “several projects” he will be releasing under his solo project.

Drew’s debut solo EP The Modern Racket was released back in 2011. The three-song EP featured the tracks the songs “Mister Funny Man,” “Livin’ The Dream” and “This Modern Racket.” As well, Never Shout Never’s second full-length album Harmony will turn 10 this upcoming August.
