According to NME, the country has been blocking images of Winnie the Pooh since last year after the character was blacklisted by authorities.

Officials have been deleting social media comments referencing “Little Bear Winnie” (the Chinese name for the popular bear) during the online crackdown, users receiving the message “This content is illegal.”

An explanation hasn’t fully been identified for the ban of the character, but it has been speculated that Chinese President Xi Jinping is not particularly fond after previously being compared to the bear.

The PG film was just recently released in the States and stars Ewan McGregor as a grown-up Christopher Robin.
