Clown’s wife is “not feeling” his new Slipknot masks

Well, you can’t win them all — At least that seems to be the case for Slipknot’s Shawn “Clown” Crahan. In an interview with Kerrang!, the Slipknot percussionist says that his wife doesn’t like his new mask.

While fans may have simply gotten a tease on Instagram, Clown’s wife has been lucky enough to see the entire process of her husband’s latest Slipknot era. However, Clown admits that she isn’t the biggest fan.

“I posted a photo on Instagram of my children, but they had garbage bags over their heads so you couldn’t see them,” Clown says of his masks. “They’re doing good – they’ve had their hair sewn on now, and both hair is the same, which is interesting. My wife doesn’t like the new masks – I’ll just let the whole world know that. She’s not feeling it at all. But when I sewed the hair on, she liked it better.”

However, even despite Clown’s wife not digging his new look, the percussionist says that marrying his soulmate was his life’s biggest achievement.

“I know for a fact that I decided to take life on, and because I did, I was able to meet my soulmate, and we were able to make children,” Clown says in the interview with Kerrang!. “I was able to step up and say what I wanted to do for real in this world, and it came true. When people ask me what it’s like to receive my dream, I don’t know how to answer that, because I don’t know any different. I think my number one achievement is knowing that I was aware that I was in a thing called life. If life ends tomorrow, I don’t think I robbed myself.”

The band have been teasing the masks for months. Recently, Corey Taylor updated fans with a progress picture.

While we won’t know what the masks look like until Slipknot decide that they are fully ready for the world to see, Taylor recently explained that his masks are a part of his own personal growth.

“Like, a lot of the guys in the band are happy with theirs (masks), and they keep theirs. Maybe they’ll change them subtly, depending on who’s making the new ones for us. But for me, I like exploring who I am now. Nothing against the guys in the band, but for me — Especially with the lyrics. I’m not the same guy I was four years ago when we did .5, and before that when I did All Hope Is Gone. That guy is constantly changing, so who is that guy in this moment?”
