Coachella urged to cancel by fan petition amid coronavirus concerns

With a growing number of events canceling due to coronavirus concerns, a petition has been started to get Coachella to stop their plans.

The Indio, California festival takes place in Riverside County, which just discovered its first case of the virus, leading to growing support for canceling the event.

As of now, the festival is currently taking place the weekends of April 10 and April 19.

Large festivals including SXSW and Ultra Music Festival have already canceled on top of numerous artists bowing out of tour dates.

Riverside County has also declared a public health emergency which could lead to the local government enforcing a cancelation.

At the time of writing, the petition has over 15,000 signatures and is working towards 25,000.

Globally, there are over 100,000 cases of coronavirus with more countries confirming as time goes on.

Coachella is not currently commenting on the situation.

Currently, the lineup is including BROCKHAMPTON, Charli XCXKim PetrasPUPthe Regrettes, Beach Bunny and Code Orange on April 10 and 17. Rage Against The Machine is headlining those days.

Travis Scott is leading April 11 and 18. Support those days includes 21 SavageDanny ElfmanSwae LeeCarly Rae Jepsen, Snail Mail, Emo Nite and Mannequin Pussy.

Lastly, Frank Ocean is headlining April 12 and 19, which also features Lana Del ReyLil Uzi Vert, FKA Twigs, Lil Nas X, Jessie Reyez, Denzel Curry, Bishop Briggs, (Sandy) Alex G, Alec Benjamin and YUNGBLUD.
