Coheed And Cambria announce new album 'The Afterman: Ascension' out October 9

Coheed & Cambria have announced the first installment of an upcoming concept-based double album, The Afterman, will be released on October 9 Hundred Handed/Everything Evil and distributed through Fontana/Ingrooves. The record will be titled The Afterman: Ascension. Below you can view a trailer the band released today to announce the new record, which you can view below. The video is a black-and-white noir short directed by Robert Schober that depicts an astrononaut leaving for his spaceship.

The second record, The Afterman: Descension, is set for a February 2013 release. Both records mark the return of original drummer Josh Eppard. Sanchez said these songs are “without a doubt, the most honest record I’ve ever written.” He continued, sayin “Though all the songs can be interpreted through our main character in the story, they were initially written in a very spontaneous manner. In the past, I’ve always had a predetermined idea of what the story was going to be when I approached the songs. With The Afterman being a new story within [The Amory Wars story] arc, I allowed the events of my life to drive the concept, and therefore opened up the songwriting to a fuller degree.”

The band also recently announced that The Amory Wars will be turned into a live-action feature film by Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson. You can catch the band at the dates below.
