Comedian and 'Chappelle’s Show' regular Charlie Murphy dies at 57

Influential comedian Charlie Murphy has died at 57 from leukemia, according to reports. He was undergoing chemotherapy.

The older brother of Eddie Murphy, Charlie was born in New York City.

He was skyrocketed to comedy fame on Chappelle’s Show, particularly for the Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories sketches. Charlie would retell hysterical anecdotes that occurred while part of Eddie's entourage in Hollywood.

Murphy has also made appearances in Adult Swim series (The Boondocks and, most recently, Black Jesus). He hosted a stand-up special on Comedy Central in 2010 and a sketch series on Crackle in 2009.

An accomplished voice actor, Charlie provided vocal talents to The Boondocks, Eddie's movie Norbit, Budweiser commercials, a character in a Grand Theft Auto and Spock in G4TV's Star Trek 2.0 shorts. He made appearances in 1000 Ways To Die and TBS's Are We There Yet? sitcom.

His wife, Tisha Taylor Murphy, passed away from cervical cancer in 2009.
