'Conan' won't have musical performances anymore
The song doesn’t remain the same for Conan O’Brien and his late-night talk show Conan on TBS. The show’s cutting musical performances from bands and artists when it adopts a new half-hour format in January, reports Variety.

The program’s apparently aiming to put a greater focus on comedy, nixing the frequent performances from myriad musical acts that come toward the end of the show. The host hopes the adjustment connects better with today’s viewers.
“I was looking for something more lean and agile,” O’Brien recently said of the change, as noted by Pitchfork. “I’ve been pushing for something that fits the modern landscape, certainly fits the way I interact with my fans more.”
The show—which debuted in 2010 after O’Brien’s quick stint as Tonight Show host and his own long-running NBC show—has recently aired performances from Royal Blood, King Krule, Rancid, Portugal. The Man, Disturbed and more.
