Corey Taylor slams Imagine Dragons, compares them Nickelback

Slipknot’s Corey Taylor has decided to cause some drama by saying that Imagine Dragons are the new Nickelback, and not in a good way.

The Stone Sour singer went on “Jonesy’s Jukebox” radio show, hosted by the Sex Pistols’ Steve Jones, to joke about many things and make this unlikely comparison.

Taylor discussed his solo band doing a few covers. Then, Jones jokingly asked Taylor if they would cover any Nickelback tracks. He then added that Nickelback is the “scapegoat” of rock music.

“However, they are passing the baton to Imagine Dragons right now and I love it,” Taylor said after agreeing. “People are slowly coming back to appreciate Nickelback and then just turning their irksome ire towards Imagine Dragons.”

To make it even more funny, Jones proceeded to ask who Imagine Dragons even are as he’s never heard of the band.

“I’ll tell you who they are, they’re awful — so that’s cool,” Taylor responded.

Taylor was joined by Jason Christopher, who plays bass in the solo band. Christopher chimed in the conversation calling Imagine Dragons “hipster Nickelback.”

Also, Taylor commented that the band is also from his hometown of Las Vegas.

“I’m gonna go home to protests. Can’t show my face in this town now,” Taylor said.

So apparently he won’t be covering any Imagine Dragons tracks anytime soon anyway. You can check out the entire interview below.

Taylor isn’t the only musician to slam the rock band. Slayer guitarist Gary Holt reportedly called Imagine Dragons the “shittiest band on Earth” after the college football halftime show. Ouch.

What do you think of Taylor’s comparison of Imagine Dragons and Nickelback? Do you agree or think he’s exaggerating? Sound off in the comments.
