Courtney Love says she’s lost “about $27 million” in Nirvana money

As the widow of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love inherited a large fortune after the musician took his own life in 1994. But in a recent interview with the UK’s Sunday Times (via ABC News), Love revealed that she’s lost a sizeable chunk of “Nirvana money.”

“I lost about $27 million,” she told the Sunday Times. “I know that’s a lifetime of money to most people, but I’m a big girl. It’s rock ‘n roll, it’s Nirvana money. I had to let it go.”

According to ABC News, the money has been mostly lost settling lawsuits over the years. When asked about her current financial state, Love added, “I make enough to live on. I’m financially solvent. I focus on what I make now.”

This news follows Love’s recent announcement that work on a Kurt Cobain biopic would begin within a year. “I am leading the charge because it's time to do this,” she said last month when asked about the movie. The Hole singer was also recently announced to be playing a preschool teacher on the final season of FX’s hit drama, Sons Of Anarchy.
