Craig Owens has some big D.R.U.G.S. news he can’t wait to share

Craig Owens of Chiodos dropped the first Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows  (D.R.U.G.S.) material in nine years back in February, with the powerfully cathartic hit “King I Am.” A day later, Owens admitted how happy he was with the support and said he can’t wait to get out there and play the songs live

Now, Owens was apparently working on booking some shows for us because he’s lamenting the fact that uncertainty stemming from coronavirus is now stopping him (and everyone) from announcing new shows.

D.R.U.G.S originally dissolved back in 2012 after releasing just one album and a live EP when bassist Adam Russell left. Owens announced he would be returning to Chiodos. Shortly after Craig Owens’ announcement, lead guitarist Matt Good, rhythm guitarist Nick Martin and drummer Aaron Stern all ended up announcing their departures as well.

At the time, they were working on a new album just a year after releasing their debut record.

Rumors swirled of a reunion came and went over the years, but none were ever substantiated.

Then in February, Owens dropped a brand new song titled “King I Am” underneath the name D.R.U.G.S. In an interview with ForbesCraig Owens discussed his intention with D.R.U.G.S being about the music first and foremost.

“Right now my focus is just like it was when the first album was written,” Craig Owens says. “The music matters the most. That’s where my focus is at. After that, I’ll start to figure out how to present it live. I don’t want this to just be about me. It’s about the music. That’s all I really care about, and that’s all I’ve ever cared about.”

He also let on that he plans on doing full shows and tours as D.R.U.G.S.

“There will most definitely be shows and tours,” Owens says. “I’m not sure exactly how it’ll roll out, but I’m currently building my team around it. Once the album is written and done, then I’ll move forward.”

Well, it seemed Owens has been pulling some strings or at least hoped to. He recently took to social media to say that coronavirus needs to hurry up because he has big news to announce. What is the good news? A D.R.U.G.S. tour.

CORONA NEEDS TO HURRY SO I CAN ANNOUNCE THIS NEW D.R.U.G.S. TOUR

If he has a tour planned, it must mean that he’s finished the new D.R.U.G.S. album. At least, we hope so.
