Damon Albarn (Gorillaz, Blur) to release debut solo album next year

Damon Albarn, best known for fronting British rock band Blur and as the mastermind behind Gorillaz, has announced, via YouTube, that his debut full-length solo album will arrive in 2014.

Albarn has previously appeared on various soundtracks, collaborations, and promotional singles, and released a double EP, Demoncrazy, in 2003, the same year Blur released their last album. Gorillaz' most recent release arrived in 2011. Both primary projects are expected to continue on with new efforts in the future.
