There was a point in time when Tower Records was the biggest record store chain in the world—with 200 stores across 30 countries—and for nearly a decade since its closure in 2006, its absence has been felt by music fans young and old the world over. In a new documentary from Colin Hanks (Fargo, Dexter) titled All Things Must Pass, Tower Records' undeniable influence is explored along with its rise to prominence and its eventual, heartbreaking fall. You can watch a new trailer for the film below which features Tower Records founder Russ Solomon, various music execs and musicians like Sir Elton John, Bruce Springsteen and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl who was a Tower Records employee once upon a time.

All Things Must Pass, which made its world premiere at SXSW earlier this year, was made possible thanks to a successfully funded Kickstarter campaign launched by Hanks all the way back in 2011. The project eventually received nearly double its $50,000 goal with contributions from upwards of 1,600 backers.

The documentary is set to hit theaters on October 16 following countless favorable reviews from its rounds on the festival circuit.
