The musician shares that, from the first day, he fell in love with the city: “It seemed like Seattle didn't need anyone but Seattle. I liked that about it,” he says.

Grohl explains he flew there to meet with Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic because they wanted him to join Nirvana. “I knew that, if I were the drummer of this band, it would be good,” he shares. “Nirvana had made a record that somehow successfully mixed classic rock and roll with dissonant punk rock, and it was brilliant.”

Years later, he still holds the Seattle and the moments he spent there very close. “I find myself driving slower when I get to the places that broke my heart because I want them to stay with me,” the musician reflects.
