David Hasselhoff to make metal music on next album

Here’s something you probably didn’t expect to hear today — Baywatch actor David Hasselhoff is diving into heavy metal for his upcoming record.

It is far from Hasselhoff’s first introduction to music. His upcoming album will be his 14th studio album ever.

The actor told a German news site Zeit the inside scoop about what his future music plans look like.

“I’m doing some heavy metal songs on my new album,” Hasselhoff said. “Why not? I do not have an album title yet, but it should read: ‘Everything is allowed.’ I do everything. Because I can. Because I want it.”

As he mentioned, the album is not named yet and does not have a release date, but we’ll be on the lookout.

Hasselhoff has actually done pretty well in his music career, with much of his popularity rooted in Europe. His most popular song, “True Survivor” from King Fury, has been streamed more than 10 million times. However, his music strays more pop-rock with an ‘80s vibe, so heavy metal will be totally new for the artist.

He’s previously opened up about being a fan of Metallica and Iron Maiden, so it makes sense he wants to try it out.

Hasselhoff hasn’t released an album in 7 years since This Time Around. In case you’ve never seen the Hoff perform, check out a video of one of the actor’s performances below.

The 66-year-old actor is also known for his roles in Knight Rider, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and his brief, but iconic, appearance in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie.
