“Crutches” follows Never‘s 2021 Where Have All The Flowers Gone? EP. It’s a song about being true to yourself and picking yourself up when you fall. Sonically, Never mixes punk, new wave, grunge and alt-pop to explore the thin line between self-sabotage and self-discovery.

Like many of Never‘s songs, “Crutches” deals with powerful personal emotions. Speaking to Alternative Press, Never explained how she uses songwriting as an outlet to express negative emotions. “It’s all generalized statements that I felt like I didn’t go too into detail about, but even just in those statements, I would never blatantly say that in real life because I’m so guarded with my emotions in that way. So even to say just a generalized statement like that, I felt like I was sticking out my neck, and it definitely made me self-conscious. In the future, I would want to write more in-depth about experiences [in my life] and dive into that.”

Never will perform with slowthai and Omar Apollo on upcoming tour dates.  You can check out a full list of dates below and grab tickets here.
