Deftones frontman to play show inside volcano, 400 feet underground

In the 21st century, it's getting harder and harder for bands to actually make history, but Deftones frontman Chino Moreno is doing just that by performing inside a volcano. Yep, you read that right.

There's a few bands that have played on or near volcanoes, but Moreno's solo show will be the first of its kind. As a sideshow to Deftones' headlining slot at Icelandic music festival Secret Solstice, Moreno will play an acoustic set inside of Iceland’s Thrihnuagigur volcano on June 18.

Only 20 lucky fans will get to see the historic performance. Tickets for the show, “Secret Solstice presents Inside The Volcano,” sold out before the artist was even announced. All 20 audience members will fly into Iceland from abroad for the show. They'll be lowered 400 feet into the ground to watch Moreno and his opening act, Snorri Helgason.

As for the potential peril of Moreno and his lucky audience members, Thrihnuagigur hasn't eruped in 4000 years, but anything's possible….

Secret Solstice 2016 is held between June 16-19, with Deftones headlining on June 18. A small number of tickets to the main event in Reykjavík are still available from 24,900kr ($203) via secretsolstice.is.
