Diego Farias (ex-Volumes) reportedly dies at 27

Diego Farias, the former Volumes guitarist has reportedly passed away at the age of 27. Farias left the band less than a week ago, shortly after his brother Gus, as the band detailed in a lengthy statement on Jan. 31.

As a founding member of Volumes, Diego had been with the band since they began in 2009. Gus Farias acknowledged his brothers alleged passing Feb. 6 just after 5 a.m. ET.

No official statements have been released but an influx of social media posts from those who knew Farias have come forth. Diego’s brother Gus also shared the news his brother allegedly passed away.

Volumes’ drummer Nick Ursich also tweeted, “This can’t be real.”

Various others have also tweeted in remembrance. Many of which are from those who have shared time with Diego either on tour or in some other way. One includes former Woe, Is Me vocalist Hance Alligood.

Josh Smith of Northlane acknowledged his passing.

As did Issues’ drummer, Josh Manuel and their bass player Skyler Acord.

Volumes released a statement regarding their recent member changes last week, explaining Gus and Diego are no longer in the band and vocalist Michael Barr has returned.

“As many of you are now aware, Gus and Diego Farias are no longer with Volumes, and Michael Barr is now back with us in full force. We want to give you one statement to answer some of your questions and set the record straight, so here it is.”

They continue by explaining that Diego wasn’t fired or kicked out of the band. From his growing work as a producer, he simply “lost the desire to tour” and couldn’t commit his time to write with them anymore.

With Barr back on vocals, Volumes are currently on tour with Crown The Empire in Southeast Asia, which kicked off Jan. 25. Prior to this run, the band played Rock USA with both Diego and Gus. You can see a video of that below.

The band are set to join Born Of Osiris for a U.K./Europe run in March before returning to the U.S. for the Vengeance tour with Attila.

As of this writing, no official statement has been made but this post will be updated should one become available. We wish all the best for Diego’s family and friends in this sad time.
