Disney unveils new trailer for 'The Lone Ranger'

The Lone Ranger rides again. And this time, he's bringing along Johnny Depp.

Today, Disney revealed the new trailer for its highly anticipated sure-to-be-summer-blockbuster, The Lone Ranger. Armie Hammer (The Social Network, J. Edgar) stars as the masked crusader, and Depp plays Tonto, his trusty sidekick/Native American spirit warrior. The film is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, the same man who turned Depp into Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Those aren't the only big names in the The Lone Ranger. Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Wilkinson and William Fichtner also star in the high-energy adventure film.

The movie is told through Tonto's eyes as he recounts the story of John Reid (Hammer) and his transformation into the Lone Ranger. Tonto and Reid become unlikely friends (and heroes) who work together to fight evil and make sure justice is served.

In the new trailer, the Lone Ranger awakens from a nightmare, discovers Tonto, who is speaking with a horse, and asks him, “Why am I alive?”

“Eight men rode into Canyon. I dug seven graves,” Tonto says. “The horse says you are a spirit walker. A man who has been to the other side and returned. A man who cannot be killed in battle.”

The Lone Ranger opens in theaters July 3, 2013. Check out the new trailer to see Hammer don the famous mask for the first time.
