On July 17, 1955, Disneyland opened its doors for the first time. Walt Disney’s vision for the theme park was to incorporate both education and general amusement factors, to make the experience accessible to children and adults. Special invitations were initially sent out before the park opened, but many of which were unfortunately forged, allowing thousands of uninvited people in on opening day.
