Well, as the musician explains to Deutsche Welle and as reported on by Loudwire, it’s all just a matter of acting your age. That, and not looking like you just stepped out of the local mall sporting Tripp pants, waiting for your mom to pick you up.

“They’re kind of a pain in the butt, to be honest,” says Draiman of his former signature facial danglers. “It just felt kind of weird walking around like a 45-year-old Hot Topic kid.” He adds of the infamous chin piercing’s removal, “I just felt it was time.”

SPIN estimates that Draiman experienced a moment of clarity when he made the “executive decision to remove the double labret piercing.” The piercings “typically resembled talons or long hooks hanging below his mouth.”

Twitter user @mosebergmann spliced the popular movie trailer with the well-known Disturbed song for a heck of a good laugh. Watch as Gaga steps up to the mic, only to seemingly belt out Draiman’s patented “ooh-wah-ah-ah-ah!”
