Disturbed inspires elderly drummer's epic "Down with the Sickness" cover

Drummers are a special breed of people. They come in all shapes and sizes, genders and ethnicities. That’s why drummer Dorothea Taylor took a stand and starred in a Drumeo ad where she absolutely kills “Down with the Sickness” by Disturbed.

Drumeo is an online drum lesson company and Taylor might now be their biggest star.

The video starts with Taylor tapping on her steering wheel to the intro of Disturbed’s hit song. She pulls into a music shop where the cashier immediately directs her to the violins and pianos. Taylor shrugs it off and hits the drum section.

She then takes her gear to the church to play music where the next man she encounters directs her to the organ in the back. She climbs the stairs and a man playing guitar asks her if they’re being too loud. Taylor says no, that she’s there for the drum audition.

From here, we are treated to just under five minutes of absolute carnage. Dorothea Taylor slays the drums. She’s tapping the skins, tapping the rims and whatever else Brendan Urie says to describe Fall Out Boy.

The cover is so good that even Distrubed saw it and cracked a joke at their drummer Mike Wengren’s expense.

Needless to say, Dorothea now has fans all over the internet thanks to her Disturbed cover.

While the video is incredible in its own right, it sends a powerful message. At the end Dorothea discusses her sentiments.

“I’ve been drumming my whole life, and every one of these experiences has happened to me throughout my life, Dorothea says. “Drummers come in all ages, sizes, shapes, ethnicities and regardless of how good you are, how old you are, we’re all still part of a drumming family. So remember, don’t judge a drummer or anybody by their looks. And always, always, always keep sharing your drumming passion to the world.”

We couldn’t agree more, Dorothea.
