John was on piano while Egerton was on vocals, which he did pretty much perfectly. John even joined on vocals at the end which was pretty amazing to see.

The performance was apparently unplanned, but we’re so glad it happened. It was also perfect for the night to celebrate the upcoming biopic after the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody won big at the awards ceremony.

You can watch their performance after the 91st Academy Awards ceremony below.

Egerton stars as the iconic performer in Rocketman, a film about John’s life and career beginning in the ‘60s. The film’s synopsis reads, “An epic musical fantasy about the uncensored human story of Sir Elton John’s breakthrough years.”

Alongside his career, the film will touch on the singer’s struggles with depression and substance abuse. In addition, it will show his acceptance of his sexual orientation.

The film is named after John’s 1972 hit song “Rocket Man.” It was directed by Dexter Fletcher and written by Lee Hall.

Alongside Egerton, Jamie Bell plays John’s longtime writing partner Bernie Taupin, Richard Madden performs as his first manager, John Reid and Bryce Dallas Howard plays John’s mother, Sheila Farebrother.

The film, by Paramount Pictures, hits theaters May 31. Check out the magical trailer, which dropped Friday, below.
