Instagram has picked up Facebook's policy for scanning for and blocking copyrighted content.
As Variety explains, Facebook's Rights Manager can now use its tools on Instagram when users log into their Facebook Page and enable coverage for Instagram. Once it's enabled for Instagram, the "reference files" that the content owners have uploaded will scan Facebook and Instagram to block or monitor the content.
You can then choose to "block or monitor the matched video." The entertainment source explains that Instagram previously had tools to monitor copyrighted content, but Facebook's Rights Manager has a stronger set of features.
To use this type of copyright tool, content owners must be submit an application and be approved by Facebook.
