Evanescence play impromptu acoustic show after equipment van accident

Evanescence had to perform an unexpected acoustic show in Russia after a vehicle that was taking their equipment to the venue was involved in an accident.

The concert was originally scheduled for Sunday in Voronezh at the Grad Event Hall, but had to be postponed to Monday due to the accident.

The band had expected the truck to make it to the show by Monday when they initially told fans the show would be the following day. You can see the video they posted breaking the news to fans below.

The following day, once they learned that the gear wasn’t going to make it, they told fans they’d be renting acoustic gear to perform a “special one-time only acoustic version” of their show. You can see frontwoman Amy Lee explain the situation in a post below.

When the band hit the stage, Lee explained again to the crowd of the incidents that took place that led to the unique show. Despite the setbacks, Evanescence totally rocked the acoustic set like pros, and we honestly kind of wish we got to see it. You can see some videos from the concert below.

After the show, the band posted a photo celebrating the unfortunate events that ended up leading to an epic night that is pretty much the definition of making the best of a bad situation.

“At the end of an insane whirlwind day that started out with bad news, and ended in so much love, we are so grateful,” they wrote.

You can see their post below.

Additionally, guitarist Jen Marjura posted a huge explainer of the events on her page.

“We had a band meeting and created a setlist for an acoustic show, rented local acoustic guitars, used a little cocktail drum kit from the venue for Will, got a piano for Amy and a bass for Tim, mics, strings, cables, picks etc,” Marjura explained.

“We sat down to rehearse the songs – it takes a lot to learn a bunch of songs “new” because what used to be played on a 7-string tuned in drop A, is now a 6-string in standard tuning and all you get is a capo,” she continued. “Within a few hours we re-learned the tunes and made this evening happen!!!”
