Every Time I Die are giving fans another preview into their next musical era with their ferocious new song “AWOL.”

“AWOL” is the third track to be released from Every Time I Die over the past two months, behind “A Colossal Wreck” and “Desperate Pleasures” which debuted in December.

Every Time I Die are gearing up for the next musical era in their career. Back in December, they dropped “A Colossal Wreck” and “Desperate Pleasures,” their first new songs in nearly four years. The songs will likely appear on their highly-anticipated ninth studio album which follows up 2016’s Low Teens.

Now, Every Time I Die are back with another powerful new song. On Feb. 1, they unleashed “AWOL,” a chaotic track that encompasses the old sounds ETID fans first fell in love with while still previewing the new sonic elements they can expect to hear on their next album.

For some listeners, “AWOL” may already sound familiar. Every Time I Die actually sent fans who purchased tickets to their Christmas telethon event the track back in December. However, it’s now time for the rest of the world to finally hear it.

Back in April, Keith Buckley exclusively told Alternative Press that this new album is the best collection of songs from Every Time I Die yet. He described their collaboration with producer Will Putney as “16 of the best songs we’ve ever written.”

For now, Every Time I Die’s upcoming album does not have a release date. Last year, Buckley revealed that it may be a while before the LP makes its debut. He told the Peer Pleasure Podcast that they don’t plan to release their full album until live shows are back following the coronavirus pandemic.

“We wrote and recorded it [the album], and then two weeks later, the pandemic hit,” he said. “So, we’re just sitting on it, but we’re not going to do anything with it until we can tour again. You know, I mean everyone’s music deserves to be toured on if they put everything into it that they, you know, hold sacred which is what you try to do when you’re in a recording studio.”

Following the dark experiences that led to Low Teens‘ inspiration, Buckley found himself excited to write new music for this next album. As well, he promised that Every Time I Die’s new material is reminiscent of their past sounds fans are so familiar with.

“So, I think that anybody that got into ETID because of the lighthearted, jovial lyrical content or anything that is missing from Low Teens, get that back in spades now.”

Along with the return to their past sounds, Buckley shared that this new Every Time I Die album is his favorite so far.

“I think it’s just so much better than any of our other records and it feels like a new band again,” he continues. “Which is wild, because the last record was about a birth and, you know, it was very much a rebirth of us too and this is our first. This is our first offering after that rebirth, so it feels like a brand new band to me. I’m really excited to get back out there.”
