Ewan McGregor on Star Wars' Obi-Wan Kenobi film: There's "no plans" to do it

We’ve got some bad news, it looks like an Obi-Wan Kenobi solo film isn’t in the works after all.

After months of speculation, Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi himself) shared with the View that a solo flick with the character wasn’t in the works…to his knowledge anyway.

“I would totally do it, of course,” the actor shared when asked about returning to the series. “There’s no plans as such to do it, as far as I know.”

The news comes as a bit of a shock, as in past reports, we heard that there was talk of a spin-off detailing Obi-Wan’s adventures pre-A New Hope was in the works.

While we aren’t getting a new solo flick with Obi-Wan, you can still be sure to catch the next Star Wars film, Episode IX on Dec. 20, 2019.

It was recently reported that the beloved Princess Leia, portrayed by the late Carrie Fisher, will be making an appearance in the forthcoming release.

Fisher will return through unused footage shot for 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

What’s more? Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, and Billie Lourd reprising their roles in the new film.
