Fall Out Boy ice cream truck venture channels “Dear Future Self" video

Fall Out Boy recently debuted an ice cream-themed video for their latest track “Dear Future Self (Hands Up)” with Wyclef Jean that is fitting considering Pete Wentzs recent venture.

Wentz recently bought his own ice cream truck and served up scoops to fans at their pop up show with Green Day and Weezer

To backtrack, yesterday, the band unveiled the new song as a part of the gigantic Hella Mega announcement with the previously mentioned bands.

The three bands announced a massive stadium tour (after teasing it) for the summer of 2020. They all three also announced new albums and dropped new songs.

Fall Out Boy dropped “Dear Future Self (Hands Up)” featuring Wyclef Jean, their second new track this year after Lil Peep and iLoveMakonnen collab “I’ve Been Waiting.” The new track will appear on their upcoming Greatest Hits: Believers Never Die – Volume Two out Nov. 15 via Island. FOB previously released Volume One in Nov. 2009. Preorders are available here.

The band then appeared on Beats 1, where Pete Wentz revealed he bought an ice cream truck that they painted to match the single artwork for the new song.

“I bought an ice cream truck yesterday,” he said. “We’re going to drive that around and put out some Fall Out Boy ice cream. I have a guy like this, that procures the ice cream truck for me. And – Yes, that’s true. Because sometimes I feel like we’ll be talking – like me and Patrick will be talking. And it’s like, well fuck it – like we could even like do like an ice cream or something. You know? It doesn’t have to be an album. And then the next thing you know, you’re trying to buy the ice cream truck.”

He then went on to talk about how he plans on working with someone knowledgable about the food industry. This is to ensure the truck is successful and up to health codes. He also talked about how the entire ice cream truck relates to the new track.

“In relation to the song, there’s nothing sadder than when you see an ice cream that has come off the cone, and is on the ground. Like, that’s the saddest,” he said. “I want to do a whole Instagram of those. They’re really sad. There’s no tour plan. But I’m going to take it around my neighborhood, at least.”

Then, the three bands performed a pop up show in Los Angeles to celebrate the big announcement. However, before the show, Wentz parked the truck outside Whisky A Go Go on Tuesday Night to serve fans ice cream. See some of the posts below.

Also, to fit with the theme, the band dropped the “Dear Future Self (Hands Up)” video that’s full of the whole band eating ice cream. It’s a bit trippy, but it’ll definitely make you want to go out for a cone.
