Fall Out Boy to appear on 'CMT Crossroads' with The Band Perry

Fall Out Boy have been tapped to film an episode of CMT Crossroads with country trio The Band Perry.

Since 2002, Crossroads has showcased pairings of country acts with artists from other genres, facilitating collaboration, storytelling, and often covers of one another's material in an intimate setting. Though rock acts have been featured in the past, Fall Out Boy marks the first group to have originated from the pop punk scene to appear on the show.

The private taping will take place Wednesday, Oct. 2 at Rocketown in Nashville, Tenn. Though the venue has been the subject of some controversy in recent times, it should be noted that Fall Out Boy performed there on several occasions early in their career.

No air date for the special has yet been announced.

For those unfamiliar with The Band Perry, the country pop group exploded onto the scene in 2010 with their breakout hit “If I Die Young,” and have since gone on to release multiple platinum singles and two successful albums. Listen below, and try to imagine how they'll sound with some Patrick Stump harmonies:

Fall Out Boy are no strangers to stepping outside of their genre for collaboration. Frontman Patrick Stump even dipped his toes into the country music world earlier this year, when he appeared as a surprise guest with singer Taylor Swift at a New Jersey performance.
