Fall Out Boy to release 'Fall Out Bird' 2.0, with new gameplay and more

Fall Out Boy have announced that their recent foray into mobile gamingFall Out Bird, will soon receive a 2.0 update, which is set to include “new gameplay, new hazards, and much more!”

An homage to the game Flappy Bird, which was pulled last month by its creator after becoming a runaway success, Fall Out Bird debuted in February, and is available on iOS, Android, and Windows Phone platforms. Its most recent update, 1.1, brought additional songs to the game, pulling from Fall Out Boy's lengthy catalog.

Check out a series of screenshots below, which reveal a new “Storm!” mode, and microphones in place of the game's current guitar obstacles:

Though this might simply be a logical update, as Fall Out Boy themselves were quick to admit that the game was initially developed in a hurry, news of Fall Out Bird 2.0 comes just one week after Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen opened up to Rolling Stone in a rare interview, where he revealed that he was considering bringing the original game back to market. If this were to happen, Fall Out Bird, along with countless other Flappy Bird knockoffs that have since been released, would need to differentiate itself in some way to offer an alternative experience to players in order to keep them hooked.

Fall Out Boy are currently winding down a tour of Europe, and, in the coming months, will head to South America before kicking off a summer co-headlining tour with Paramore. Here's a full list of dates:
