Fall Out Boy will induct Green Day into the Hall Of Fame

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame has announced that Fall Out Boy will be inducting Green Day at this year’s ceremony.

Rolling Stone has a list of the other presenters: “Paul McCartney will induct Ringo Starr, Stevie Wonder will speak on Bill Withers, Patti Smith will intro Lou Reed, Peter Wolf will show praise to the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Fall Out Boy will discuss Green Day, John Mayer will pay tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble and Steve Cropper will extol The “5” Royales.”

Dave Grohl, Joe Walsh, Tom Morello, John Legend and Jimmy Vaughan will all be performing at the annual show.

Speaking on Green Day’s induction, Billie Joe Armstrong told Rolling Stone: “For me, rock & roll is not an outdated term. To me, it means freedom. It was a way for me to express myself and I’m eternally grateful for the fact that I’ve been able to do that pretty much my whole life. It’s never lost that meaning for me, whether I’m a fan myself or for Green Day fans. It’s just the most liberating thing in the world. The fact that we’re getting recognized for it in the company we have, it’s just an incredible feeling.”

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony will air on HBO May 30.
