First trailer for 'The Witch' is probably the scariest thing you've seen in a while

Robert Eggers' directorial debut, The Witch, had its world premiere at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival where it was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize in the U.S. Dramatic category and won the Directing Award for the same. A24 Films (Ex Machina, Spring Breakers) quickly acquired distribution rights for the film and will set an early 2016 theatrical release that's sure to top horror cinema fans' most anticipated lists—especially after viewing The Witch's first trailer below.

The film stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson (the Harry Potter franchise) and Kate Dickie (Game Of Thrones) and is set in 1630s New England, following a devout Christian family unraveling from within after the disappearance of their newborn son. The initial trailer shows a gorgeously shot film with an incredibly unsettling tone that may result in goosebumps or giddy excitement. Robert Eggers has reportedly also been tapped to write and direct a remake of the 1922 silent horror film, Nosferatu.
