Five Finger Death Punch’s Ivan Moody might not be cut out for guitar

Five Finger Death Punch frontman Ivan Moody is known as just that, the frontman. Well, who says that during this coronavirus pandemic, you can’t try and pick up a new skill? That’s exactly what Moody is trying to do with his new series Guitar Zero: Legends Of The Fail.

In the series’ first episode, the Five Finger Death Punch vocalist tries to get some tips from Hellyeah guitarist Tom Maxwell. Unfortunately, Maxwell had some other ideas for Moody, besides teaching him the guitar.

Five Finger Death Punch just dropped their new album F8 back in February, but the lockdown put touring the album on hold.

So, why not get better at something during quarantine? Some people are finding very creative ways to pass the time. There’s Gerard Way‘s The Quarantine Coloring Book, Every Time I Die‘s Jordan Buckley has been practicing his typography and well, blink-182‘s Mark Hoppus has been playing a lot of Animal CrossingFor the rest of us, it has been a lot of nothing after the Netflix true-crime masterpiece that is Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness

Well, Five Finger Death Punch’s Ivan Moody wants to get better a guitar.

“It’s not that I don’t know how to play minor chords and shit,” Moody says. “It’s just that its an art form and I have a serious appreciation for it.”

So, Moody decides to call up one of the greats in Maxwell. But, the conversation doesn’t go how Moody had hoped.

The call starts with Maxwell cleaning up his own instrument while he absolutely tears down Moody’s dreams.

“You’re one of the greats, man, and I’ve known you for fucking years,” Moody begins “I’m trying to learn how to play the fucking guitar. Dude, I’m so unsuccessful at this. I’m failing epically. So I was hoping maybe I could talk you into giving me a couple of lessons.”

“I think that’s a fucking terrible, terrible idea, dude,” Maxwell responds. “I don’t think you’re cut out for it, man. It’s just too complicated, you know what I mean it? There are strings, and you gotta learn out to tune it. Shit, you know, it takes a lifetime just to learn how to fucking hold a guitar pick?”

“You got tiny-ass fingers, dude. What if you drop your pick?”

Moody is obviously taken aback by the response and the clip draws from classic sitcom strategy with a laugh track and the sad groans of what would be audience members.

Maxwell continues the roast and suggests Moody take up cooking or churning butter.
