Foo Fighters cover Jawbreaker, the Passions on latest archival EP

Foo Fighters have been releasing EPs of live tracks, covers and demo songs for the past few months and they’re back with yet another.

The latest and seventh overall EP, 02050525, sees the band covering Jawbreaker and the Passions as well as three demo tracks.

The first EP in the series arrived in July pulling together three live performances as the band ramps up to the 25th anniversary of their debut album.

Now, the band are giving some love to ’80s one-hit-wonders The Passions as well as punk rockers Jawbreaker. They covered “I’m in Love With a German Film Star,” as well as the latter’s 1992 track “Kiss the Bottle.”

The new EP also features Foo Fighters deep cut “FFL (Fat F–king Lie),” a rare studio take of “Skin and Bones” and a demo of “DOA.”

All three songs originally appeared on 2005 release Five Songs and a Cover which was a b-side collection from their In Your Honor sessions.

Their last ep arrived just a few weeks ago featuring a cover of the Psychedelic Furs track “Sister Europe” plus a live version of “Planet Claire” and more demos.

Earlier this summer, drummer Taylor Hawkins revealed the band hope “to have a new record by next year” in the midst of these EPs.

“From what I’ve heard from our fearless leader Dave Grohl, he has a lot of demos that he’s worked on and I think we’ll start once this tour is over,” he said. “I think not too soon after that we’ll start the process of putting the songs together as a band.”

Hawkins also talked about songs he’d like the band to cover, saying “anything by Lil Pump”.

“I just think we could nail that. I feel a connection to his music and I feel like we’d just kill some Lil Pump,” he said with a wink, which means he was probably kidding but we’d still like to hear what they’d come up with.
