Watch Fountains Of Wayne honor Adam Schlesinger with a moving classic

On the night of April 22, New Jersey stars hosted a livestreamed benefit event called Jersey 4 Jersey. The event was designed to raise money for the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund in their fight against coronavirus

The event featured a slew of stars including Fountains Of Wayne, Halsey, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, SZA and many more.

The COVID-19 pandemic hit New Jersey incredibly hard. In fact, the death toll from the virus in New Jersey is over 5,000, which makes it the second hardest-hit state in the U.S.

With that in mind, New Jersey banded together to host a benefit livestream to raise money for charitable organizations.

The special event saw a number of moving musical performances, as well as speeches from actors such as Whoopi Goldberg, Chelsea Handler and Danny DeVito. Intertwined with the stars, we saw some everyday heroes. Nurses, restaurant owners and more were shown in their fight against the pandemic.

Kicking off the show is one of the most well-known residents of New Jersey—Bruce Springsteen. Springsteen performed with his wife Patti Scialfa. Together, they played “Land Of Hope And Dreams.” and “Jersey Girl.”

Fountains Of Wayne reunited for their first show in seven years. This performance was particularly powerful as it was also without their founder Adam Schlesinger who passed away from COVID-19 complications earlier this month.

Fountains of Wayne were joined by Sharon Van Etten who provided bass and backing vocals for their performance of “Hackensack.” “This is for Adam, his parents, his children and New Jersey,” frontman Chris Collingwood said.

In the line of stirring emotional songs, Halsey delivered an acoustic performance of “Finally // beautiful stranger.”

Never one to disappoint, Jon Bon Jovi played the “Livin’ On A Prayer” classic. SZA performed “20 Something” and Charlie Puth covered Springsteen’s iconic track “Growin’ Up.”
