Frank Iero And The Future Violents are celebrating their next single, “Great Party,” with a brand-new video. Hitting the VFW hall for the most lackluster party of the year, the band work hard to turn it around.
The act play to a room who are more interested in a punchbowl that doubles as an ashtray, questionable-looking cheese platters and a half-eaten cake. But the Violents make the best of it.
Frank Iero explains he knew “Great Party” was going to be a single as soon as he put down the pen.
“Sometimes when you write songs for an album, you have a hard time placing where they should go in the tracklisting or what would be a good visual representation for them,” Frank Iero explains. “Other times, it’s like the universe opens up its playbook and tells you exactly how every piece fits into this giant puzzle. I knew immediately when we finished writing ‘Great Party’ that it needed to be a single off the record and that we needed to make a video for that song.”
The band turn everything around with an explosive move exactly as Iero envisioned.
“When I wrote the treatment for it, I could see the whole thing playing out in my head, and I knew that our friends needed to be cast in it,” Iero says. “I saw this weird gathering that you couldn’t tell if it was an AA meeting or the worlds bleakest birthday, and I knew our friend Dani from Surfbort had to be the one to light the fuse that would turn everything on it’s head. I really love this video, [and] it may have turned out even better than I first imagined it.”
“Great Party” follows the band’s first single, “Young And Doomed,” which arrived in March. Both tracks appear on their latest, Barriers, which hit the world back in May.
