Frank Iero revives ‘Revenge’ guitar for My Chemical Romance reflection

My Chemical Romance announced their first US tour in nine years on Wednesday with the Easter egg-packed “A summoning…” video. Today, Jan. 31, tickets go on sale at 12 p.m. local time. We’re pretty sure all the dates will sell out instantly just like they have before, but that didn’t stop Frank Iero from sharing a heartfelt message about the journey.

My Chemical Romance sent fans into a frenzy on Jan. 29 with “A summoning…” The 13:20 video has already garnered close to 1.3 million views.

Before returning to the stage Dec. 20, My Chemical Romance played what would become their last show at Bamboozle 2012 in their home state of New Jersey.

While there’s still hope of new music, the band released their last album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, in November 2010. They embarked on the first run supporting it, the World Contamination tour, beginning in October 2010 through July 2011 hitting North America, Europe and Japan.

Immediately following that run, MCR hit the Honda Civic tour to co-headline with blink-182. With Manchester OrchestraMatt & Kim and more as support, the tour ran through the U.S. and Canada from August through October 2011. The band played some one-offs in 2012, including that last-minute Bamboozle set, before disbanding in 2013. But now, they’re back and Frank Iero couldn’t be more grateful.

Frank Iero, the lovable rhythm guitarist for My Chemical Romance and successful solo star with the Patience and the Future Violents has always worn his heart on his sleeve. At MCR’s first show back, we saw him wear a customized shirt for his family and even blew kisses to is kids while on stage. Now, Iero posted about tickets going on sale for their tour, but also spoke about what the tour means to him.

hell-oh phrends, Tomorrow tickets will go on sale for the first North American My Chem tour in 9 years at 12pm local time… 18 dates in some of my favorite cities, including (yea, you guessed it) beautiful Newark, NJ. ? The first and only time mychem played the Prudential Center in Newark was in 2007 when we were asked by the mighty @bonjovi (?) to open their series of shows christening the venue.

it was the first concert ever held there, and since we opened the show… well, technically we were the first band to ever play there (thanks Jon! ?‍♀️ sorry). Now it’s 2020, 13 years later and my friends and i are back to headline the Rock, our hometown arena located less than 7 miles from the house i grew up in, and the current stomping ground of the @njdevils ?

it really is a dream come true, i couldn’t make this shit up if i tried! i truly feel blessed getting to do all the crazy things that i do… and i just want to thank you all out there for the love, for the continued support, and for your (extremely loud) patience. It was a long journey getting to these shows, for all of us… and i wouldn’t trade one step or stumble of it for the world.
ticket link is in my bio, i’ll see you at the shows.
Keep the faith xofrnk ?

Keeping in the same vein, a few day ago, Iero also shared a sentimental post about going to Japan and his family. Iero talks about how his kids are excited to go Shibuya Station to see the famous Hachiko statue. For those who don’t know, Hachiko is a dog that is well-remembered for his loyalty to his owner. Hachiko waited at the train station every day for nine years after his owner died from a cerebral hemorrhage while at work. A movie titled Hachi: A Dog’s Tale released in 2009.

Iero posted the heartfelt message on My Chemical Romance’s Instagram just hours after   “A summoning…” dropped. This sent fans into a frenzy similar to when Ray Toro posted about Gundam shortly after “An Offering…”

?? My kids were just talking this morning about how they are reading the story of Hachiko in school and they want to try and see the statue at Shibuya Station! I thought MCR were going to be the most excited about returning to Japan, but it turns out my family may be even more excited for their first trip there. -Frank

Don’t think that the other members of My Chemical Romance forgot about tickets going on sale today either. Gerard Way and Mikey Way both added their own pictures to remind fans. We wish Ray did, but alas.

Gerard posted a picture of the iconic Danger Days-era Killjoy car with the caption “On the road again…”

His trusty brother Mikey posted a picture of Kobra Kid’s Danger Days helmet with the caption “I really can’t wait to see all of you. Let’s have some fun”
