Frank Turner performs at London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony
On the heels of announcing his upcoming DVD, Frank Turner had a surprise performance today at the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics. With an estimated 25 million viewers, this is Turner's largest performance to date. Turner performed for 15 minute prior to the opening ceremony's official start and was backed by his band, the Sleeping Souls.
Turner commented on the performance saying, “Being asked to play the Opening Ceremony was something I never imagined was going to happen in my wildest most feverish dreams; but the fact that Danny Boyle asked me personally, as a fan, convinced me to do it. It's a pretty terrifying prospect, but I'm secretly pretty happy to be part of it, it's a once-in-a-lifetime thing.”
You can catch Turner on tour this fall at the following dates and pick up his most recent full-length, England Keep My Bones, on iTunes here. You can catch the band at this year's Riot Fest.
