Carrie Fisher's dog recognized her while watching 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'

Carrie Fisher's dog Gary was in attendance for the opening night of Star Wars: The Last Jedi and his reaction to seeing his former owner's appearance on the big screen will tug on your heartstrings.

It has been almost a year since we lost our beloved Princess Leia who passed away at the age of 60 on December 26 following severe cardiac arrest on a flight from London to Los Angeles. The actress starred in the most recent Star Wars film which came out Thursday December 14, with director Rian Johnson dedicated the film's premiere on December 9 to her.

Fisher's dog Gary was in attendance on opening night at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles. Gary watched the film from the lap of Fisher's former personal assistant Corby McCoin, who he now lives with. 

ABC7 reporter Veronica Miracle tweeted, “Gary just watched #TheLastJedi! He sat on Fisher's former assistant's lap during the film. She said his ears perked up every time she was on screen.”

Eagle-eyed Star Wars fans may have caught Gary in his cameo appearance in the film, which was confirmed by director Rian Johnson earlier this month.
