Get to know The 1975 - Part One

Although The 1975 just released their self-titled, full-length debut, fans, especially stateside, seem to know very little personal information about the band or its history.

To help introduce themselves to new audiences, and to clear up some misconceptions about their origins, The 1975 have launched an interview series.

Below, we're bringing you part one, where frontman Matthew Healy discusses the origins of the group's name, stylistic choices, fan misconceptions, and more.

Released last week via Vagrant/Interscope Records and produced by Mike Crossey, the group's debut album follows and shares several tracks (in re-recorded form) with their four EPs, which saw release throughout 2012 and 2013. The 1975 is available now on CD and 180 gram double vinyl from the band's site as well as digitally through iTunes.

The 1975 will embark on their second ever tour of North America this fall. Check out the dates below, and head to their site for a full list of upcoming international performances.
